Dorothy E. Gray-Ringgold, 91, of Lancaster, passed away on March 3, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Parkesburg, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Gray St. and Stella (Book) Gray and the wife of the late Lawrence S. "Larry" Ringgold. Dorothy had a passion for caring for others, and after working in assembling at Hamilton Watch, she pursued her dreams and became a LPN and worked as a Private Duty Nurse at Duke Convalescent Home. The care she had for others was born from her love for her large and ever-growing family. Family time was precious to her and she blessed her family with 91 amazing years. Described as the glue that kept them together, Dorothy's family will remember her love of pickles and olives, her timeless class, and her sly winks. Dorothy is survived by her children; Joyce Hamilton and her husband James, Regina Holmes, Stephen Ringgold, Dennis Duncan, and Tina Ringgold. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Ringgold, dear parents Wilbur and Stella Gray, son Ernest "Bo" Holmes, and her four brothers and 3 sisters. A Homegoing Service will take place on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 12:00pm at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory at 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA 17602. Guests will be received prior to the service starting at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Riverview Burial Park.
