Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Benner Martin, who departed this life peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on June 29, 1933, in Kinzers, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Martin.

Dorothy devoted her working years to the textile industry as a sewing factory worker, where her skill and dedication were evident in the quality of her craft. A passionate quilter, she expressed her creativity through fabric and thread, creating beautiful pieces that adorned the homes of many. Her love for sewing was matched only by her gardening, where she found joy in nurturing flowers and watching them bloom, much like the love she cultivated within her family.

Dorothy held a deep appreciation for her faith, finding solace in hymns that filled her heart with joy. She was known for her warm and welcoming spirit, often sharing her voice in song with family and friends. Blessed with a special bond with her nieces and nephews, she nurtured their lives with love and encouragement, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

In the winter months, Dorothy delighted in her trips to Florida, where she basked in the warmth of the sun. Her commitment to service was evident through her volunteer work with local fire halls, where she dedicated her time to support her community.

Her legacy will be honored with a funeral service that will take place on May 5, 2026, at the Hershey Mennonite Church, 401 Hershey Church Rd. Kinzers, PA 17535. A public viewing will take place at 1 PM. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 PM, interment to follow in the church’s cemetery.

Dorothy Benner Martin is survived by her siblings, Elvin Martin, husband of Lois of Ephrata, and Irene Reed, wife of Lamar of Lititz, as well as a host of treasured nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her parents, and siblings: Paul, Carl, Clair, Joseph, and Lee Martin, Elsie Martin, Norma Groff, Esther Farrel, and Mary Ann Beyer.
