Doris A. Smith, 83, of Lancaster, PA, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. She was the wife of Ronald J. Smith, with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Eleanora Smith Mauer. Doris had worked for Schick, Hamilton Watch, RCA, and in the early 2000s she retired from the Gene Miller Testing Company after 40 years of joyful service. She was a woman of great faith, who was always thinking of others before herself. Her family was her greatest treasure; if she wasn't working in the job she loved, she was spending time with the family she loved. She loved all kinds of animals and enjoyed going to the ocean. Doris had been a past member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and was attending Real Hope Fellowship. In addition to her husband, Ron, she is survived by her children: Sandra L. married to Andrew J. McCauley of Myerstown, and Shawn M. married to Amy Smith of Lancaster; her stepsons that she thought of as her own: Scott A. Smith of Lititz and Steven A. Smith of Lancaster, and by her 2 grandchildren: Charles Stough and Lily Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Mauer of Monongahela, PA and her sister, Eleanor Dougherty of Florida. Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 2-3PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the Memorial Service to follow at 3PM, Pastor Shawn Smith officiating. Interment will be private.
