Doris Misselhorn passed away at the Magnolias of Lancaster on December 22, 2017 at the age of 90. She was the wife of Donald J. Misselhorn with whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage on June 16, 2017. Doris was born May 15, 1927 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Edward and Pearle Leary. She was a teacher all her life. She graduated from Millersville University (then Millersville State College) with a degree in elementary education and taught in the Lancaster school district. Doris also was a health educator with the TB Society of Lancaster traveling among the Lancaster County schools presenting health related programs. While her children were in school, she substituted in the lower grades in most of the Lancaster County school districts. She also taught in the St. Leo the Great Sunday School for 15 years. In addition to her husband, Doris is survived by two sons: John of Stewartstown, York County, David of Plano, TX, and two daughters: Anne Conant of Landisville, PA, and Susan Salvitti of New Freedom, York County; also by her brother now in Tampa, FL. Doris spent considerable time tracing her family history back through the Civil and Revolutionary Wars. As a result of this search, she became a member of the Donegal chapter of the DAR. She was always interested in arts and crafts becoming quite good with pastel artwork. Her pastel pictures were awarded numerous prizes in local competitions. Many of them decorate the walls of her home and the homes of her children and grandchildren. She never sold any although she did have offers over the years. She also was a collector with a large collection of dolls, teddy bears and figurines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601. Please do not send any flowers. Memorial donations may be sent to the St. Leo's Capital Campaign in her name. Burial will be private.
