IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald B.
Weidman
July 21, 2024
Donald B. Weidman, age 85, of Mount Joy, entered into eternal rest on Sunday July 21, 2024, at Harrisburg Hospital after a brief illness. Many people knew him by his nickname Sam. He was born on March 7, 1939, to the late Harlan and Susan Weidman. He was the youngest of 10 siblings. He was the loving husband of Dorothy N. Mylin Weidman, whom he married October 8, 1960. They shared 63 years of marriage together.
Donald graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1957. He enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid Phillies fan. After graduation, he entered 6 months of basic training at Fort Knox. Upon completion, he served 7 years in the Pennsylvania Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1957.
He was a skilled cabinet maker and operated his own business. He handcrafted many pieces for his own house, including his own kitchen. Later in life, he worked at Rohrer's Hardware and John Herr's grocery store.
Upon his official retirement, after living in the same house for 50 years outside Millersville, he and Dorothy moved to Messiah Lifeways Community 55 + neighborhood in Mount Joy. He enjoyed playing cornhole and shuffleboard and the many friendships he made there. He also enjoyed putting puzzles together and even completed a 1000 piece one in the shape of a working Grandfather clock.
He attended Manor Church in Mountville for many years and most recently at Crossroads Brethren in Christ Church in Mount Joy.
Surviving besides his loving wife Dorothy, are 2 sons and 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, 9 siblings, and 1 granddaughter.
Family and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Don's celebration of life service at Crossroads Brethren in Christ Church, 800 Donegal Springs Road Mount Joy 17552, on Sunday July 28th at 3:00 PM. A viewing will be held at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private at a later date.
The family would like to say thanks to the staff at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg's cardiac ICU unit who cared for Donald during his stay.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's name can be made to MCC or Crossroads Brethren in Christ Church.
