Donald L. Nicklaus, 67, of Lancaster, PA, passed on Sunday, June 21, 2015. Born in San Diego, CA at the Naval Hospital, he was the son of the late Paul C. Nicklaus and Dorothy (Richwine) Nicklaus of Manheim. He attended St. Anthony of Padua grade school and graduated in 1965 from Lancaster Catholic High School. He attended college in York, PA before leaving after several knee operations due to wrestling and sand lot football. Employed by Schick Electric as factory employee, he worked his way up to a Production Control Supervisor during his 8 years of service. He was then hired by Allis Chalmers in York with positions in Production Control, Warehouse Supervisor, and Purchasing Agent. In 1977, he joined Woodstream Corp. in Lititz as the Director of Purchasing for 12 years. He then accepted the Marketing Territory Manager position for Ivaco Rolling Mills, L'Original, Ontario, Canada, and retired after 25 years on July 31, 2014. Don was a member of the Gap VFW, the Sons of the American Legion, the Elks Club of Murrells Inlet, SC, Lancaster Liederkranz, the Knights of Columbus, the Ancient Order of Croaking Frogs, F&AM Christiana Masonic Lodge 417, the Moselem Springs Golf Club, and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was also dedicated for over 30 years to EARS Ephrata Area Rehabilitation Services as a volunteer. Don married Carol (Simpson) Nicklaus on October 16, 1971 and they traveled throughout the world over the past 43 years. They spent the winters in their condo at Surfside Beach, SC, where Carol didn't have to cook or clean and Don could play golf. In addition to his wife, Carol and his mother, Dorothy, he is survived by his brothers, Paul Jr., married to Elaine Nicklaus of Manheim, and James married to Marianne Nicklaus of Elizabethtown. Friends will be received on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 6-8PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA . Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Donations in Don's memory can be made to the Resurrection School, 521 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
