Dominic "Mickey" Capp, 83, of Lancaster, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Joseph and Angeline Agresta Capp. He was married to Delia M. Ippolito Capp for 48 years before she died in 1999.
Mickey graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School and also Lancaster Business School. He also earned a real estate brokers license. He served in the US Navy at the end of WWII in Italy.
He worked along side his father and his brother Joe at Capp's Bar on Rockland Street, and then ran Capp's Café with Joe on South Duke Street. Mickey then sold real estate for Multiple Brokers in Lancaster. In 1983 he opened Mickey's Café at Frederick and Shippen Streets with his sons Mike and Joe. Mickey retired from the Lancaster Housing Authority where he worked as a housing inspector.
Mickey was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge. He loved to play golf and followed all local sports teams, college and professional football and basketball. What Mickey loved most was his family and friends.
Surviving are his children Michael J., husband of Carol Colvin Capp, Mount Joy, Catherine M., wife of Bruce Koller and Joseph P., husband of Teresita Capp, both of Lancaster; his partner Dorothy M. Salvaggio, Lancaster; three grandchildren Amy Lynn wife of Jeff Wecal, Gloucester, MA, Joseph M. Koller, Santiago, Chile and Angelina T. Capp, Lancaster; brother Joseph J. Capp, Jr., Lancaster and many nieces and nephews. Mickey was preceded in death by his sister Catherine Capp.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 AM Monday, December 26, 2011 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 East Orange St., Lancaster, PA, with The Rev. Daniel C. Mitzel as Celebrant. A Viewing will be held 9:30-10:30 AM on Monday at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 East King St., Lancaster, PA. Final Commendation and Farewell in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery with honors accorded by Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mickey's memory to the American Heart Association, Lancaster Chapter, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
