Dennis H. Dowd, 52, of Lancaster, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 18, 2012 in Boston, MA. He was the husband of Lucy Fehr Dowd, with whom he celebrated 28 years of marriage this past December. Born in Waterbury, CT, he was the son of William H. Jr. and Joan Flaherty Dowd of Watertown,CT. Dennis was the National Sales Manager for Armstrong World Industries, working there for 29 years. A graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, where he was a standout soccer and baseball player, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. He was an active supporter of the F&M Men's Soccer Program. Dennis loved to coach, guiding teams in the Manheim Twp. Soccer Club and the Lanco United Soccer Club. He was active with the Manheim Twp. High School Girls Soccer Boosters.
He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife and parents, Dennis is survived by his four adoring children: Jennifer E. of Boston, MA, Katherine A., Victoria M. and William M., all of Lancaster; his brother William R. married to Susan Dowd of Wenham, MA; and his three sisters: Ellie married to Stuart Muter of Lexington, MA, Patricia R. Dowd of Norwalk, CT, and Sarah R. Dowd of Cary, NC.
Friends will be received on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 6-8PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Friends may call again on Monday, March 26, 2012 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA from 10-11AM, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM. Interment will be private.
