Obituary

David D. Walczyk, devoted husband, father, and grandfather and son of August and Henrietta Layer Walczyk passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday morning, March 21, 2016. He was 87.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Lois and his son Thomas; he is survived by his daughter Ann Suggs (and partner Chuck Perry), son Daniel (and partner Shawn Young), his five grandchildren Laura and Dana Suggs and Brian, Sara, and James Walczyk, and his sister Beverly (Bev) Osborn. He was beaming with pride in anticipation of the birth of his first great granddaughter Walczyk in July.

David was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering and a parishioner of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Ephrata, PA.

David was a hard-core sports fan and enjoyed keeping up with both pro and collegiate basketball and football and could be found watching pro golf tournaments whenever they were telecast. He was a super fan of the Green Bay Packers and his alma mater's Badgers and was beyond pleased to know that the Badgers basketball team had won another of their NCAA Tournament games on Sunday night. He was also an avid card player, especially bridge, and along with his wife Lois, delighted in trouncing son Daniel and his partner Shawn in many an after dinner euchre match.

The family will receive guests at Our Mother of Perpetual Help (address below) at 10am, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 with a Memorial Mass following at 11am. He will be interred at Cedar Hill Cemetery (531 N. State St., Ephrata, PA 17522) immediately following the mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Mother of Perpetual Help, 320 Church Avenue, Ephrata, PA 17522 or Pathways Center for Grief & Loss, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA, 17604.
