David R. Long, 71, passed away after a brief illness at his home in Lancaster on Saturday, November 8, 2008. He was born in Pittsburgh, grew up in Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Banking and Finance. He was employed by Ford Motor Co. and worked for their Tractor Division in Michigan, Denmark, Australia, and Pennsylvania and retired from New Holland in 1998.

He was an avid golfer and a member of Meadia Heights Golf Club, where he served on the Board and as Vice president. He devoted a great deal of time in the service of his beloved Club and managed the Club's finances. He was a member of Newcomers & Neighbors Club where he organized and managed the Friday Golf Group. He enjoyed traveling the world and collecting antiques.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kay; 2 daughters; Melissa married to Michael Stutz and Kim Herzog; a son, Barry Patterson; 4 sisters, Martha married to Chester Dodson, Sally Long, Catherine Long, Alice married to David French and 2 grandsons. He was preceded in death by a son James.

A celebration of his life will be held at Meadia Heights Golf Club, Golf Road, Lancaster, PA on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 3:00PM.
