Darlene F. Showers, 69, of Lititz, died surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Victor Shreiner and the late Luella Landis Shreiner Becker. Darlene and her husband John D. Showers were married 29 years last January.

A graduate of Warwick High School, Darlene worked as Certified Nurses Aide at Lancaster General Hospital for 19 years before retiring in 2008. She attended Lititz United Methodist Church, where she volunteered in the clothing bank.

Darlene loved her family and cherished time with her grandchildren and attending their many activities. She was a very kind person who loved helping people. She loved her dogs and all animals, and was vigilant about providing water in her front yard for the neighborhood pets. Darlene enjoyed tending to her flower garden, collecting many knick knacks and decorating her home for her favorite holidays.

Surviving in addition to Darlene's husband John are two daughters, Vickie L. wife of Jeffrey C. Siegrist of York and Bonnie S., wife of Christopher M. Barnhart of Lititz, son Shawn D. Minnich, husband of Kathy of York, stepdaughter Sherri, wife of Robert McIlvaine, III of California; six grandchildren, Amanda, wife of Robert Richards, Sage Barnhart, Mya and Max Minnich, Robert McIlvaine, IV and Brittany McIlvaine; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Mason Richards; son-in-law Mark Brubaker of Lititz; and her siblings Barbara, wife of Robert Good of Lititz, Victor Shreiner, husband of Lorraine of Lititz and Robert Shreiner, husband of Julie of Penryn. Darlene was preceded in death by her daughter Debra J. Brubaker in 2008 and her sister Dorothy Hoffman.

The Funeral Service will take place 3:30 PM Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with Rev. Gerard M. McGrath officiating. A Viewing will be held 1:30 to 3:30 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Brickerville.
