Daniel F. Dilley, 91, passed away at his Manheim Twp. home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 4, 2017. He was born in Frostburg, MD, to the late John A. and Jennie (Doherty) Dilley. Daniel and his wife, Mary Susan (Passarelli) Dilley, were married for 60 years last June 23rd.
He served as a Disbursing Storekeeper 2nd Class in the US Navy during WW II onboard the USS Quincy. During his time onboard, the Quincy participated in the D-Day invasion, it sailed to Malta carrying President Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference with Churchill and Stalin, and was later present in Tokyo Bay during the Japanese surrender. After the War, Daniel completed his studies at Kansas State University and then worked in the merchandising department at Sperry New Holland for 31 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Daniel loved to golf and was a member of the Parsormore Group.
In addition to his loving wife Mary Susan, Daniel is survived by their five children, Matthew J. Dilley of Lancaster, Thomas J. Dilley, husband of Bonnie of Landenberg, Cynthia A. wife of Stanley Levandoski of Denver, Stephen D. Dilley, husband of Tracy of Millersville and Patrick F. Dilley, husband of Kerri of Port Washington, NY; seven grandchildren, Andrew Dilley, Ian Dilley, husband of Aubree, Jenna Dilley, Chaise Sowersby, Michael Levandoski, husband of Aimee, Lori Levandoski and Fiona Dilley; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Peter Levandoski; and his brother Robert Dilley, husband of Jackie of Camp Hill. Daniel was preceded in death by five siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Daniel F.X. Powell as Celebrant, will take place 11 AM Friday, March 10, 2017 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.Visitations will be held 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Spacht-Snyder Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 127 S. Broad St., Lititz, PA 17543 and 10 to 11 AM at the church on Friday. Interment with Military Honors accorded will occur at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
