Dail Steinman, age 83, of Lancaster, entered eternal rest January 6, 2026. Born at Queen's Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, seven weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor, she was the daughter of the late William Whiting and Virginia Dail (Boyd) McIlhenny. She devoted her professional life to her role as a Human Resources Generalist for Hamilton and then Flinchbaugh. Known for her extensive knowledge and unwavering dedication to others, she excelled in her field, embodying the qualities of compassion and integrity that resonate deeply with those fortunate enough to have worked alongside her.
A woman of many passions, Dail was an avid reader and possessed a jovial spirit that brought laughter and joy to all around her. Dail especially loved spreading smiles around all holidays throughout the year – always ready with a holiday-themed outfit and well wishes for all. She treasured the companionship of her beloved dogs and was committed to serving her community through various organizations. Dail volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the Blind Association, and the Lioness Club in Millersville. She also dedicated her time and talents to Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in East Petersburg, where she participated in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, nurturing the faith of many young lives.
Dail's love will live on in her children, Eric Steinman, husband of Kim of Columbia, Virginia Dail "Ginny", wife of Michael Thomas of Lancaster, and Jon Steinman, husband of Cecilia of Westlake, OH; grandchildren, Mary Thomas, Hannah Thomas, Emma Steinman, Eliza Steinman, and Evelyn Steinman, and Eric's much loved granddogs ; as well as a brother, John Boyd McIlhenny of Lewisburg, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, William Whiting McIlhenny III.
A Memorial Service honoring Dail will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, beginning at 3 PM. The family will greet guests from 1-3 PM.
