D. Chester Connor, formerly of 1820 Wheatland Ave., died Sunday, February 14. 2010 at Village Vista Manor. Born on Lafayette St., the son of William V. and Minnie S. Connor. He lived in Lancaster all of his life, and celebrated his 100 th birthday in January of this year. Baptized at St. John's Episcopal Church on Easter 1910. Chet was a lifelong member and vestryman, serving in many capacities. A 1931 graduate of Penn State University, he was employed at Hamilton Watch Co. for 36 years. He also worked at Woodstream Corp. in quality control, retiring at 75. In retirement, Chet had time to enjoy fishing, St. Leo Friendship Club trips, and delivering for Meals on Wheels.
Chet and the love of his life, Rosemary, were married 65 years until her death in 2000. Surviving are daughters; Judith Weaver (Robert) of Lancaster, Anita Bowers, Holtwood, Christine Hazelip (Bruce), Gentryville, IN, Carol Kunkel (Art) Bowling Green, KY. 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
A celebration of Chet's life will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at St. John's Episcopal Church W. Chestnut and Mulberry St. at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received at the Church before the service from 9-11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
