Cu Van Tran, 77, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at Lancaster General Hospital on Monday, December 22, 2025, after battling his illness quietly and privately. He shared forty-seven years of marriage with his beloved wife, Thuy Dzuong Nu Tran.
Born in Bùi Chu, Vietnam, he was the son of the late Khue Trong Tran and Mui Thi Nguyen. Cu attended law school in South Vietnam before being drafted into the South Vietnamese Army. He graduated from Thu Duc Military Academy and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He served in the South Vietnamese Army for more than eight years, eventually attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. During his service, he worked at the Army Logistics Center and studied English in preparation for advanced logistics programming training at Fort Benjamin Harrison in the United States.
Following the Fall of Saigon in 1975, Cu was rescued by U.S. Marines via helicopter to a U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet carrier and subsequently came to the United States as a refugee, first arriving in Indianapolis, Indiana.
After settling in Lancaster, Cu built a successful career as an IT project manager, working across several industries. His professional experience included positions with Woolworth Corporation, Kinney Corporation, AMP, and Berk-Tek.
Cu was a devoted family man who dearly loved his grandchildren. He was known as a true gentleman and respected for his kindness and generosity with his time. He enjoyed playing golf at Media Heights and Four Seasons.
In addition to his wife, Thuy, Cu is survived by his sons, Charles Tran and his wife, Megan, of Philadelphia, parents of Nico, Nova, and Khai, and Curtis Tran and his wife, Caitlin, of Lancaster, parents of Maxwell and Brody. He is also survived by four siblings, Vu Tran, Quynh Tran, Lam Tran, and Le Tran.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.
Cu will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Services will be private.
