Clara V. Rottmund, 83, of New Holland and formerly of Lancaster, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Garden Spot Village. She was the wife of the late James J. Rottmund, who preceded her in death in 1999. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Soldner Zellner. Clara had been employed by the Slaymaker Lock Co., had been a homemaker, and had later worked with her husband in his accounting business, Rottmund, Cheek & Company CPA. A devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and served on the PTO and as a teacher's aide at St. Anthony's Catholic School. She was a 1950 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, where she was the drum majorette her senior year. Clara enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafts and camping. She enjoyed many years in her card club with her many friends from high school. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, a more than 25 year volunteer with the American Red Cross, and bowled in the Rocky Springs Bowling League. What she loved more than anything else in her life was her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Clara is survived by her son, Michael J. married to Mindy Rottmund of Lancaster; her daughters: Jean M. married to Thomas Markow of Lancaster, Kathleen A. married to Norman C. Strosser Jr of Millersville, Ann M. married to Richard L. Musser Jr. of Strasburg, and Elaine M. married to Michael D. Brenner of Lancaster and by her 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Theresa Beach. Friends will be received on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 6-8PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 730PM. Friends may call again on Monday, August 31, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA from 10-11AM, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM. Interment in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Clara's memory to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or to the American Red Cross, 430 W. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
