Chester L. Bentley II, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Anne's Retirement Village. Born and raised in Lancaster, PA, Chester was the son of the late Chester L. Bentley and Florence Bastendorf Bentley. He was the husband of the late Romaine Studer Bentley, who preceded him in death in 2003. They were married 55 years. He is survived by a daughter, Peg Swisher, married to Harold and a son Chester L. Bentley, III, married to Barbara; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three sisters: Florence King, wife of Harry, June Studer and Audrey Beck. Chester enlisted in the US Navy in 1944, serving two years aboard the USS Saint Paul, ending with Japan's surrender at Tokyo Bay. He was employed for 35 years at DeWalt/Black and Decker. Before moving to St. Anne's Retirement Community, he was a resident of Oak Leaf Manor in Millersville for 3 years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting at his hunting camp, Beach Creek, in Karthaus, PA. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 501 East Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 or Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
