In Loving Memory of Charles Granville Wilson, Jr.
Charles Granville Wilson, Jr., of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023. Born to the late Charles Granville and Nancy (Maxwell) Wilson, Sr., Charles lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army and later embarked on a career with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring for a second time after contributing to his community. A man of many passions, he found joy in playing Bingo and testing his luck at casinos. His love for bluegrass, country, and blues music resonated throughout his life, becoming a source of comfort and connection.
Described as stubborn, laid back, and a true homebody, Charles embraced life with a unique blend of determination and ease. His commitment to family and friends was unwavering, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charles is survived by his loving children, Yvonne Wilson and Charles G. Wilson, both residing in Austin, TX. He is also survived by his siblings: Victor Wilson (husband of Marylynne) of Coatesville, PA; Jane Victoria Wilson of Lancaster; Raymond Wilson (husband of Gloria) of Wilmington, DE; Kenny Wilson (life partner of Marcia Dent) of Wilmington, DE; and Mary Harris (wife of Raymond) of Coatesville, PA.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his siblings: Herbert Maxwell Wilson, Yvonne Wilson, Deborah Hatfield, Roxanne Beasley, Ronald Wilson, and Rose Marie Wilson.
A service to celebrate Charles's life will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602, on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11am. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the viewing, which will take place one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Charles will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made to the Salvation Army in memory of Charles Granville Wilson, Jr.
Charles will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, humor, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those around him. May he rest in eternal peace.
