Obituary

Charles T. Grab, 85, of Lancaster passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012 at his home. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late George and Pauline (Abel) Grab. He was married to Doris L. Grab who passed away in 2009.

Tom was a 1944 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. Charles worked as an electrician for Lancaster City for 35 years retiring in 1988.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Columbia 3 rd Degree Council #2294.

Tom held an honorary membership to the Fraternal Order of Police and was a member of the Men's Club of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.

Tom proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

He is survived by his children: Mary Anne Helm, wife of Robert V., of Willow Street, Thomas M. Grab, of Lancaster, and David M. Grab, husband of Susan, of Bainbridge. Also surviving are his siblings, Thelma Smith, of Columbia, Anna Welsh, of Lancaster, Pauline Giandalia, wife of Joseph, of Columbia, Janet Gainer, wife of Melvin, of Columbia, Raymond Grab, husband of Rose, of MD and Alice Marie Sensenig, of Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren,  six great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Anita Grab. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul R. Helm, a daughter, Barbara E. Jennings, 2 brothers, Samuel and Robert Grab.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11AM on Thursday, March 8, 2012 from Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster, PA with Rev. Michael E. Messner as Celebrant. Final farewell and commendation will follow Mass in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard and Vet-21 Salute Honor Guard. There will be a viewing on Thursday at the church between 10-11AM.
