Charles A.L. Shindell III, 82, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at his residence.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles and Doris (Cecklin) Shindell II.

Charles was a proud Marine Corps veteran. After honorably serving his country, Charles dedicated over 25 years to the Lancaster Newspaper working in various roles. He was a member of VFW Post 0034. His artistic talents and skillful hands brought beauty to everything he touched. He was a NASCAR enthusiast. Charles cherished the outdoors, enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and discovering new experiences as a food connoisseur. Above all, his greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his life partner, Marjorie L. Graas; his son, Jeff Shindell; his step-daughter, Kimberly Adams; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Shindell.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024 beginning at 1PM at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 2nd Lock Rd., Lancaster, PA 17603.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles' name to the VFW Post 0034.
