Charles R. Moore, 82, of Lancaster, passed away, Monday, November 9, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Jeremiah B. and Almira M. (Thompson) Moore. Charles was the husband of the late A. Geraldine (Frailey) Moore who died in 1962 and Doris A. (Bowen) Moore who died in February of 2007.
Charles graduated from McCaskey in 1944. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII and again during the Korean Conflict. Charles graduated from Rider University in 1951 between his times of service. He was employed by John Hancock as a Staff Manager for 33 years before his retirement in 1984. Charles was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where he served on several committees. He was also a member of Elks Lodge #134, American Legion Post #34, and the Lancaster Post Card Club.
Charles is survived by 3 sons; Thomas L. Moore of York, Gary B. Moore husband of Susan of Lancaster, and Steven C. Moore husband of Darlene of Rothsville. A daughter; Holly M. Carpenter wife of Greg of Lancaster. A step-son; Brent L. Stoll husband of Kathy of Neffsville. A step-daughter; Lynne M. Lynch wife of Patrick. 10 grandchildren. And a sister; Doris J. Foreman wife of Laverne of Herndon, Pa.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Otterbein United Methodist Church 20 E. Clay St. Lancaster 17602. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be private.
