Charles Golin, 83, of 1954 Pine Drive, Lancaster, passed away at is residence on Thursday.
He was the husband of Edith G. (Yoffe) Golin, with whom he would have celebrated their 57 th wedding anniversary this coming Monday. Born in Philadelphia, Charles was the son of Mazie (Cherry) Golin Ford of Hallendale, FL, and the late Harry Golin.
Charles was an attorney and partner with Golin, Haefner and Bacher of Lancaster, practicing for 25 years, until his retirement in 2006. Prior to this, he was the owner of the family business, Lancaster Packing Co, and had also served as a cattle buyer.
He returned to school at the age of 48 to study law and was a member of the second graduating class in 1976 of the Delaware Law School, now Widener Law School.
An active member of Temple Beth El, he served as a teacher in the Hebrew school, served on the Board of Directors and various committees, was Past President, was named Man of The Year in 1968, and blew the Shofar.
He loved boating, spending time on the Chesapeake Bay, and was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxillary Flotilla 49. Charles was very handy, having a terrific mechanical sense, was 52 year member of the Elks Club of Lancaster, and was an avid reader.
Charles was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater.
In addition to his wife and mother, Charles is survived by 2 sons, Jonathan L. married to Suzanna Golin of London, England, and David W. Golin of Harrisburg; a grandson, Ethan B. Golin, and a sister, Johann married to Lee S. Levinson of Palmarie, FL.
Friends will be received on Friday from 12:30-1:30PM at Temple Beth El, 1836 Rohrerstown Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601 , with the service to follow at 1:30PM. Interment in Beth El Cemetery in Lititz. Condolence visits will be received at 1954 Pine Drive, Lancaster Sunday and Monday from 7-9PM, with a service to be held on both Sunday and Monday at 645PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charles' memory to Temple Beth El, Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125, or to the United Cerebral Palsy of PA, 908 N. Second St., Harrisburg, PA 17102.
