Obituary

Surrounded by the family he loved so well, Charles F. Frey, 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, after a brief illness. Born April 28, 1926 in Manor Township, he was the son of the late Armor P. and Mary (Charles) Frey. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Beulah "Bea" (Landis) Frey. His first wife of 60 years, Ann (Breneman) Frey, died in 2005.

Charles grew up on a farm on Turkey Hill in Manor Township. His father started bottling and delivering milk door-to-door to survive during the Great Depression. When Charles became a young adult, he and his brothers purchased the small dairy from their father, and grew it into Turkey Hill Dairy and Minit Markets until it was sold in 1985. After retirement, he became an avid golfer.

Charles was a life-long member of Manor Church, serving in many roles over the years. He was passionate about serving God and seeing God's kingdom grow, stewarding wisely all he had been given. As a result, he loved people and was committed to sharing his resources to relieve suffering in the world. Throughout Charles' life, he was involved with many organizations: World Vision, Water Street Ministries, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, Messiah College, Lancaster Bible College, among others. He was a quiet but significant mentor to many, passing on his wisdom about life and business.

In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by four children: Linda (Frey) Barto, Philip married to Pati (Going) Frey, Michael Frey, and Nicholas married to Miriam (Martin) Frey. Five grandchildren also survive him: Tammy married to Scott Ream, Lauren and Jared Frey, Andrew and Molly Frey, as well as two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Connor Ream. Also surviving is one sister, Eunice Steinbrecher. Five siblings predeceased Charles: Glenn, Emerson, Pauline, and Jay Frey, and Lillian (Frey) Lehman. Charles is also survived by Bea's family: Michael married to Beverly (Byers) Landis, Tedford, and Dorine married to Gerald Offenbaker, Jr., as well as two grandchildren, Jessica married to Joshua Stoppard and Christina married to Dustin Giffing, and two great-grandchildren, Nyomi Stoppard and Caroline Giffing.

Funeral services will be celebrated promptly at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Manor Church, 530 Central Manor Road, Lancaster, PA. Viewings will be held at the church from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19, and again from 9:00 to 11:00 the day of the service.
