"Charlie" Miller
February 25, 1932 – March 11, 2021
Charles B. "Charlie" Miller, 89, of Lititz, passed away early Thursday, March 11, 2021, at United Zion Retirement Center. Born in Campbelltown, Lebanon County, he was the son of the late David and Viola (Heisey) Miller. Charlie was the beloved husband of Sherrie L. (Drake) Miller, and they celebrated 40 years of marriage together.
Charlie graduated from Palmyra High School with the Class of 1950. He attended Harrisburg Community College and Harrisburg Barber School. As a member of the U.S. Army, he honorably served his country, serving in Europe during the Korean Conflict as a tank commander with the 2nd Armored (Hell on Wheels) Division. Formerly employed as a barber and as the Director of Housekeeping at the Harrisburg State Hospital, Charlie later became the Manager of Environmental Services at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He served as the former National Director and First Vice President of the International Executive Housekeeping Association. A skilled woodworker, Charlie was passionate about making birdhouses and all types of family heirlooms. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Along with his wife, Charlie is survived by two sons, Bryan Hynicka (Christie) of Berlin, PA, and Troy Hynicka of Lititz, PA; four grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle and Jarod Hynicka and Tawni McFeaters (Brandon); and four great-grandchildren, Mackenzi, Collen and Cole McFeaters and Patrick Hynicka. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Nathalie Stroud; a brother-in-law, Tom Drake (Connie); and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his brother, William Miller; sisters, Verna Miller Hostetter and Esther Buck; a nephew Rodney Miller; and brothers-in-law Robert Hostetter and Marlin Buck.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Charlie's final resting place will be at Salem UCC Cemetery, Campbelltown. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charlie's memory may be offered to the Wounded Warrior Project, P O Box 758516, Topeka, KS, 66675-8516, woundedwarriorproject.org.
