Obituary

Cecelia R. Weiss, 96, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2019 at the Mennonite Home. She was born on March 10, 1922 in Baltimore, MD to the late Morris Miller and Marie (Mirando) Miller. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Albert J. Weiss, M.D. Cecelia was a graduate of the Eaton & Burnett Business School where she earned her degree in business management. She was an employee of the former Sinai Hospital in Baltimore where her future husband, Dr. Albert Weiss, completed his internship. Their romance began in the medical records room of the hospital, and after marrying in December 1945, they remained inseparable until her death. Cecelia served as business manager in Albert's pediatric practice for the entire period from when the practice began in 1950 until they both retired in December 1985. Cecelia was a kind and compassionate person, and was deeply devoted to her family. She will be remembered by many as one who though diminutive in stature, was strong-willed and one who was not afraid to speak her mind. Surviving in addition to her husband are two children – David M. Weiss, husband of Kelley S. Weiss, Lititz, and Susan W. Epstein, wife of Larry M. Epstein, Boynton Beach, FL; two granddaughters – Melanie J. Denk, wife of D. Keith Denk, Baltimore, MD, and Erica R. Martin, wife of James R. Martin, Lancaster; two grandsons – Jason A. Epstein, husband of Dr. Marisa Epstein, Larchmont, NY, and Dr. Andrew J. Weiss, husband of Dr. Alexandra E. Weiss, Columbia, MD; and 5 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to the Mennonite Home Reed Run unit for the excellent and compassionate care provided to Cecelia and Albert, for which we are extremely grateful. Cecelia requested that funeral services be limited to a private ceremony for her immediate family members. She also requested that no shiva services be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cecelia's memory may be made to the Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center, 625 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
