Obituary

Catherine Zealberg, sister of Margaret Dugan and a beloved aunt passed in joyous manner on Friday, February 6, 2015. She was 3 days shy of her 95th birthday. Catherine accomplished much in her life. She was the Director of the Library at the Carlisle War College, with a staff of 33 employees. She retired in February 1980 with over 28 years of service. Next Catherine attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington to earn the necessary degree to become the first lay Pastoral Minister in the Diocese of Harrisburg. She served at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lancaster, PA for 9 years from 1981 to 1990. In 1977 Catherine won her second Woman of Faith award along with three other women in the Diocese of Harrisburg. She served on the board of directors of Catholic Charities, the Catholic Witness and the Diocesan Mission Board. She had also been president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Catherine was co-director of the lay associates of the Precious Blood. She planned retreats and coordinated the Elderhostel retreat programs at St Anne's Village in Columbia, PA where she resided. She also ran the gift shop there for many years. Catherine loved her family and friends. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Kathy Weeks of Anchorage, AK, Claire Osinsky of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, Diane DiGiacomo of Danville, PA, Mary Beth Numbers of Holliston, MA, Theresa Dugan of Holland, PA, William Dugan of Gettysburg, PA and a host of loving cousins and family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her nephew, Nicholas J. Dugan, Jr. Friends will be received from 10-11AM on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the chapel of St. Anne's Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA 17512 with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30AM and a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Catherine's memory may be made to St. Anne's Retirement Community at the above address.
