Catherine E. Ward, 87, of Lancaster died Tuesday at Lancashire Hall.

She was a homemaker and, previously, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Born in Pittsburgh she was the daughter of the late Albert and Helen Schill Dix. Mrs. Ward was married to John N. Ward Sr., who died in 1984.

Surviving are four children; John N. Jr. married to Marie Ward of Lancaster, Helen M. married to Lloyd Deal of Florida, Master Sgt. Robert C. Ward USAF Ret. of Texas, Deborah L. married to Kenneth C. Waller of Lancaster; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jerome R. Ward and, two brothers, Albert and Andrew Dix.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster on Friday at 11:00am.  Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 10:00am until time of service.  Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions in Catherine's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Lancaster Chapter, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
