Catherine "Kate" T. Paul, 79, of 754 Emerald Dr., Lancaster, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 28, 2006.

She was married for 55 years to the late Steward "Stu" V. Paul, who passed away in 2003. Born in Ashland, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine Doolin Scherer.

Kate had retired from the PA State Dept. of Labor and Industry. She was very active in the Democratic Party in Lancaster as a committee person, and was a union representative for the AFL-CIO. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW Post on Dorwart St. Kate was also a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Surviving are 2 children: James S. Paul of Rio Rico, AZ, and Barbara A., married to Corey E. Newport of Pequea; 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret Birmingham of Annapolis MD, and two brothers: Peter Scherer of Lancaster, and John Scherer of Florida.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 10-11AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA, with Mass to follow at 11AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
