Catherine E. Hoover, 91, of Lancaster died Friday, December 22, 2006 at Lancaster General Hospital.

She graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in April 1937 as a Registered Nurse.  She later worked at the Osteopathic Hospital in Lancaster and as a Red Cross Nurse.

She volunteered at the voting polls and helped her husband with the family business of Hoover Candy Co.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Born in Wrightsville she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice McCall Elliot.  She was married to Henry Mackinson Hoover who died in 1971.

Surviving are three sons; Henri M. married to Nancy K. Hoover of Maryland; Thomas A. Hoover of Lancaster; Howard Joseph married to Jodine Hoover of Lancaster; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a brother William Elliot of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by two sons; Frank and John E. Hoover; three brothers; Charles, Richard and James Robert Elliot and a sister Mary Chilcoat.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster on Thursday at 10:00am.  A calling time will be held from 9:30am until service.  Interment in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, c/o Education Fund, 119 S.
