Catherine Anne "Cathy" (Hower) Stewart, 61, of Columbia, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 in her residence. Born in Lewistown, she was the wife of Eric F. Stewart of Columbia, and the daughter of Catherine Jane (Short) Hower of Elliotsburg, PA and the late Donald S. Hower, Sr. She spent the first 10 years of her life in Juniata County before moving to Perry County. Cathy was a 1971 graduate of West Perry High School, and a 1975 graduate of Millersville University, where she received her B.S. in Education. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster, and a former member of Centre Presbyterian Church in Perry County. Cathy was a spitfire who loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing, and hunting. She enjoyed motorcycle rides with her husband, Eric. A very creative person, Cathy loved to read, write, draw, and paint. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched. An international traveler, Cathy counted Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, and the USA as some of her favorite places to visit. In addition to her husband of 40 years, Cathy is survived by a son, Eric Joseph Stewart and his wife Jennifer of Lititz; a daughter, Erin Jane Stewart of Columbia; 3 grandchildren: Natasha, Halie, and Jalen; 2 brothers: Donald S. Hower, Jr of Elliotsburg, and Stephen S. Hower of Millerstown; and her beloved Dalmatian, Dora Lee. A Memorial Service will be held 7 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, with Pastor Debbie Miley officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 5 to 7 PM prior to the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Kindly omit flowers.
