Catherine Theresa Ball, 84, most recently of Lancaster, PA, passed away on April 24th, 2022 with her family by her side. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Moore, proprietors of Moore's Cafe on Scott Street in the East End. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry "Hank" Ball.
Catherine graduated from Saint Mary's HS in Wilkes-Barre. She attended Kings County Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY where she graduated as a registered nurse. She went on to work at Bay Ridge Hospital in Brooklyn until staying home to raise her four children. She then returned to Wilkes-Barre where she worked at the Leader Nursing home in Kingston and then went on to become the assistant director of nursing at Valley Crest Nursing Home in Wilkes-Barre. Catherine enjoyed crocheting, getting the right answers on game shows, an occasional visit to the casino and seeing Broadway shows with her beloved Hank.
Catherine met the love of her life, Harry, at a St. Patrick's Day party at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. Catherine and Hank were married for 58 years until his passing in 2018.
Catherine is survived by her four children: Michael Ball husband of Lisa of Lancaster, PA, William Ball husband of Ginger of Kansas City, MO, Catherine Rothschild wife of Jeff of Poughkeepsie, NY and Suzanne Baldo wife of Andy of Allentown, PA. Catherine always enjoyed spending time with her 10 grandchildren and was proud of their many accomplishments.
Catherine, known as "Clancy" or "Teasie" depending on the side of the family, will be greatly missed by 26 nieces and nephews scattered over 12 states.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Condie, Jack, and Neil Moore, Rosemarie Tosline, Nancy Elston and Peggy Doughtery.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday April 28, 2022, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601. Friends and family will be received from 10 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park.
