Catharine "Kitty" E. Nestel, 96, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on October 30th, 2016. She was born in Lancaster, PA to the late Henry and Mabel Kadel on August 18th, 1920 and graduated in 1938 from J.P. McCaskey High School. She lived in Lancaster her entire life and assisted her husband, Kenneth R. Nestel, in the family jewelry business for over 50 years. She has resided at Moravian Manor Nursing Home since the spring of 2013. She was an active member of Eastern Star, Amaranth, Lancaster County Shrine Club and Church of the Apostles. Music was her true passion and as an accomplished pianist, she played for all of the above organizations as well as sang in the church choir for over 60 years. She enjoyed walking errands to downtown Lancaster and in the woods at the family cottage in North East, Maryland. Catharine has two sons, Glenn married to Judith Mutschler Nestel, with two daughters, Tricia married to Avdiel Escalante, and Melanie Burness, and one son, Gregg and his wife Chelsea. His daughter, Melanie has a son, Jaiden Burness. David is married to Sandra Martin Nestel with two sons, Todd married to Cindy Beylard Nestel and Chad married to Angela Haley Nestel. Todd has a daughter, Taylor and Chad has two daughters, Haley and Sarah. Catharine's brother, Hank Kadel and wife, Louise, also reside in the Lancaster area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 2000 and her son, Glenn, in 2010. Memorial Services will be private. Contributions in Catharine's memory may be made to Moravian Manor Nursing Home, 300 W. Lemon St., Lititz, PA 17543.
