Carolyn A. Burns, 80, of Lancaster, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Homestead Village. Born in Marion, IN, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Roseanna (Glasser) Williams. She was married to the late Paul J. Burns who passed away on December 8, 2014. She was the valedictorian of her class at Marion High School in Marion, IN. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Marquette University and Ball State University, Ft. Wayne, IN. Carolyn was a vibrant, active person who cherished her family and friends as she spent most of her life as a homemaker raising her seven children. Carolyn was an active member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister, participated on the Faith Formation Team, LAMBS and many years as a religious education teacher. She was a member of the Coterie Club and served as the past president. She served with the Fulton Opera House Guild for many years and was a past president. Carolyn was also a past presiding partner with the Accountability Investment Club and was a part of the Marion Group of RCA Ladies. She was an avid bridge player and played several times a week. She was thrilled to travel the world with family and friends-and was always up for an adventure. She truly loved when she was able to spend time with family and visiting with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are seven children: Thomas R. Burns, husband of Soohaeng of Hong Kong; Anne E. Weigel, wife of Marc of Farmington, NM; Joseph P. Burns and Suzanne of Fort Worth, TX; Catherine M. Hoffman, wife of Tim of Glen Ellyn, IL; Mary R. Grill, wife of Daniel of Lancaster, PA; Patricia E. Hampel, wife of Rob of Roswell, GA; and John P. Burns, husband of Alicia of Vienna, VA and 14 grandchildren: Amy, Ricky and Marie Burns; Colin, Erin and Ryan Hoffman; Austin and Eric Grill; Henry, Quinn, and Kate Hampel; Keenan Parker, Patrick and Delaney Burns. Carolyn was preceded in death her brother, Wilber Williams. Carolyn's Funeral Mass will take place 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, with Rev. Peter I. Hahn as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:45PM at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. The Celebration of Carolyn's life will continue with a memorial luncheon and will begin after mass/entombment.
