IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Habich
Ford
November 28, 2025
Carol Habich Ford, 68, of Brownstown, PA, died on November 28th, 2025, due to complications from congestive heart failure and Alzheimer's disease.
Carol was the daughter of the late Helen and Robert Habich and grew up in Farmingdale, NY. She played badminton and graduated second in her class at Farmingdale High School. A member of Alpha Chi Omega, she studied three different languages and majored in psychology at the College of William & Mary, where she met her soulmate and best friend, John. Carol worked as a medical journal proofreader, learning more than anyone's fair share about Escherichia coli and priapism.
Carol's hobbies included watching old movies, proudly listening to country music, and anonymously paying for solitary strangers' meals at restaurants. She always had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. Carol took the greatest pleasure in little things, like drinking coffee on snowy days, eating out with loved ones, and exploring the beautiful winding back roads of central Pennsylvania. She loved Oregon Dairy chocolate ice cream and enjoyed word puzzles, mystery novels, and card games. Carol was also an avid fan of Tom Selleck and a connoisseur of his filmography.
A dedicated mother and selfless friend, Carol adored her family. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, John Ford, also of Brownstown; a daughter, Caroline Ford, of Hamden, CT; and two obstreperous cats, Hazel and Archie. She is also survived by an uncle, David Anderson, of Rochester, NY; an aunt, Dorothy Wickersham, of Grove City, OH; and 12 beloved cousins across the country. Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Katherine Habich.
Her family thanks both Providence Place Senior Living and the Lancaster Medical Center for their dedicated care, compassion, and expertise.
Friends will be received by Carol's family on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA from 10:30AM to 12 Noon, with the Memorial Service to follow at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or Angel Wings Kitty Sanctuary, Landenberg, PA: https://angelwingskittysanctuary.com .
