Carlo "Carl" C. Bruce, 91, formerly of Millersville and Lancaster, passed away at Homestead Village on Saturday, October 5, 2024. He shared 43 years of marriage with his wife Margaret "Peggy" (Boyer) Bruce.
Born in Columbia, Carl was the son of the late Paul Bruce and Helen V. (Littlefield) Shaub and stepson of the late Harry Shaub. He graduated from the former Quarryville High School and completed two years of college studies.
He served stateside in the US Army during the Korean War with Headquarter Company 80th Engineer Battalion (Construction) achieving the rank of Tech-Sergeant. In civilian life Carl worked as a heating and air-conditioning sales engineer for Agway Corp.
A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millersville, Carl served on various church committees including the property committee for over 40 years. He was an avid photographer, and enjoyed collecting and restoring classic cars, playing golf, travelling and bowling.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason as a member of Charles M. Howell Lodge #496 F.&A.M. in Millersville and was also active in Lodge of Perfection in Lancaster and Harrisburg Consistory, A.A.S.R. Carl was a member of Millersville Lions Club and a recipient of a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.
Dearly loved by his family, Carl leaves his wife Peggy, his son, Robert Bruce (Marcia), son Brian Bruce, daughter Robin Fisher (Michael), son Eric Bruce, daughter Carol Bruce, stepson Andrew P. Frengel (Rose), stepdaughter Elizabeth A. Frengel, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his sister Kay Kilby. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Carl was preceded in death by his sister Edna Traub.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, May 3, 2025, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millersville at 11 am with The Rev. Mark Kopp officiating. Peggy and family will greet guests from 10 to 11 am at church. Interment will take place in the church memorial garden.
