Carl Henry Flory, 79, of Lancaster, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Country Meadows, Lancaster. Born in Chambersburg, he was the husband of the late Ruth (Hallock) Flory and the late Joan (Yale) Flory, and the son of the late Guy Mentzer Flory, Sr and Verda (Shillito) Flory. A US Navy veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post #56, Lititz. Carl was a fan of Maryland Basketball and the Baltimore Orioles, and he enjoyed reading books on politics and genealogy. He also liked to spend time in his garden and attending yard sales. Carl was a Typographical Printer for the Washington Post for almost 20 years, and was the Secretary-Treasurer of the Columbia Typographical Union, Baltimore-Washington Chapter. Carl is survived by 2 daughters: Sharon Flory of Lititz and Deborah Chyllene Flory and her wife Lisa Fringer of Essex, MD; a son, Erik John Flory and his wife Michelle of Dundalk, MD; 3 grandchildren: Alexia, Mickenna, and Leland Flory; and a sister, Diane L. Burkholder-Galen of Shippensburg. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Guy M, Jr., Robert E. and Donald L. Flory. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Country Meadows Retirement Community, 1380 Elm Ave., Lancaster with Chaplain Brian Blais officiating. Kindly omit flowers.
