C. Norman Yunginger, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at his home in Lancaster. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of B. Frank and Mary Dussinger Yunginger. In addition to his parents, Norm was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Janice, Susan, Joseph and Charles. He is survived by his wife, Marion Rachkoskie Yunginger; 3 daughters, Coleen Adams and Ray Adams, Melissa, wife of J. Richard Hess and Christine, wife of Kevin Hess, as well as 6 grandchildren, Jenna, Sarah, Rachel, Elizabeth, Madelyn and Adam and 4 great grandchildren, Koen, Ella, Eden and Kylie. He is also survived by 6 siblings, Frank, husband of Marty, Roland, husband of Joyce, Nancy Rhoads, Millie, wife of Parke McKinney, Anabel, wife of John Gockley and Yvonne, wife of John Baker.
Norm served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a graduate of the Millersville State Teacher's College where he earned a degree in Industrial Arts. As one of the founding members of the Nickel Mine Gun Club, he was an active member for over 60 years. Norm was an administrator at RCA for 35 years where he retired in 1985. He was a long time baseball coach in the Elks Legion League and was active in Sertoma earning many awards and he served in many capacities – President, Governor and International Director. He was also the recipient of the Lancaster Red Rose Award. He loved his family and was a devoted father and grandfather and great-grandfather. Norm's passions were hunting, reading, Penn State, gardening, and attending grandchildren's sporting events.
Viewings will take place Thursday, November 11th, from 7-9 PM and Friday, November 12th, from 10-11 AM, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. The Funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM, with The Rev. Dr. William McKinney officiating. Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens with Military Honors accorded by Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Norm's memory to Schreiber Pediatric Rehabilitation Center, 625 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
