C. Joseph Krall, 87, of Columbia, PA passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. He was the husband of Dorothy (Steele) Krall with whom he was married for 65 years.
Born in Lancaster, PA he was the son of the late Chester and Nona (Marks) Krall. Joe was a 1952 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College with his bachelor's degree in Science and was employed by Wyeth Lab as a supervisor of the packaging department for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was a very active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where he was a lector and lay minister. He accompanied Melissa Wetzel around Penn Manor and assisted her with her classes until her graduation. Joe helped prepare young couples in preparation for marriage with Pre-Cana classes and volunteered at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. He was an avid Lancaster Catholic supporter and was a study hall moderator for many years. Joe loved to play tennis and was the 1969 recipient of the McMillian-Hurst Award for his involvement as a referee with the PIAA football association. He proudly served in the US Army after WWII in Japan.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his children, Kathleen wife of John Donnelly of Crofton, MD, Joseph Krall husband of Linda of Tipp City, OH, Barbara wife of Michael Tangert of Denver, PA, Michael Krall husband of Sharon of Williamsport, PA, Thomas Krall husband of Sandra of Alamogordo, NM and Robert Krall husband of Margaret of Wheeling, WV; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister Kathryn Snyder of Lancaster, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter and three sisters Blanche Eshelman, Nona Vay and Margaret Snader.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at 11AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 554 W. Walnut St. Lancaster, PA 17603. Interment with military honors conducted by the Red Rose Honor Guard will be held in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. A viewing will be held one hour prior from 10-11AM at the Church.
