IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bruce K.
Balmer
October 1, 2017
Bruce K. Balmer, 76, of Lititz, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Moravian Manor. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann Beazley Balmer, who passed away on April 13, 2017, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Lititz, he was the son of the late Galen and Ethel M. Eitner Balmer. Bruce had worked for 40 years for the Alumax Corporation where he was a cast house scheduler. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill. He loved the outdoors, spending time hunting and at his cabin in Potter County. He was a long-time member of the Lexington Rod and Gun Club where he was a PA state hunter education instructor for 25 years. Bruce enjoyed his large garden at home, sharing his harvests of vegetables with family, neighbors and friends. He was known for the sauerkraut he made yearly. He was proud of the 2 International Harvester Scouts he restored. He loved spending time with his family especially his granddaughters, and loved fireworks, with July Fourth being his favorite holiday. A man with a great sense of humor, he loved to tell stories, enjoyed being with people and was always sure to say "thank you" to others. Bruce was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather! The family would like to extend their gratitude to the physicians and nursing staff at Lancaster General Health, Moravian Manor and Hospice. Bruce is survived by his daughters: Lisa A. married to Keith Doutrich and Christine L. married to Eric Weaver, both of Lititz; his granddaughters Samantha and Lauren Weaver and by his sister, Norma Sonnen of Richland. He was preceded in death by his brothers Donald, Glenn, and Larry and his sister Fern. Friends will be received on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, 26 Owl Hill Rd., Lititz, PA, from 6-8PM and again on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 10-11AM, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his memory to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or to the American Heart Assn., 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
