Obituary

Brian George Vooght, of Lititz, passed away, Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Born in Manchester, England, he was the son of the late Frederick George and Gladys (Barker) Vooght. Brian was the husband of Lisa (Singleton) Vooght and formerly Josephine Vooght.

Brian served in the Royal Sussex Regiment Home Guard; Air Training Corps 66 Squadron; Royal Engineers 8th Army and later in the United States 113th Fighter Wing, D.C. Air National Guard. Brian was employed by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board as a senior financial analyst before his retirement in 1987. He was a member of St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church. Brian's greatest love was flying. He flew with the Maryland Civil Air Patrol, and owned two ex military trainers: a Fairchild PT-29, and later a North American Harvard MK II (also known as a T6). He performed in many air shows along the East Coast. The Harvard was based at Hagerstown, MD until 1994. He then moved to Lititz and kept his planes at Lancaster and Reading Airports. He was also a tennis enthusiast.

Surviving in addition to his wife Lisa are 2 daughters; Carol Boldt wife of TJ of California, and Sandra Vooght of Delaware; a son, Bernard Vooght of Mt. Joy; and his brother David Vooght, husband of Betty, of Worthing, England; and 2 grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church 10 Delp Rd. Lancaster, 17601 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Craig Ross and Rev. Jackie Roderick co-Officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 2-3 p.m. Interment will be private.
