IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brett Kline
Smith
January 10, 1986 – July 12, 2024
We're heartbroken to share the loss of our brother, son, and friend, Brett Kline Smith, 38, formally of Jackson Hole, WY. We are devastated to have lost such a bright light to the world so tragically on July 12, 2024. He was full of adventure, and he lived life to the fullest.
Brett was born to parents Tim Smith and Julia Winthers on January 10, 1986, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. From an early age, Brett was active in the community. He was an avid athlete, competing on the Broncs football and track teams, and participating in Jackson Hole Baseball from T-ball through Giants Baseball. Brett was also a competitive freestyle skier. He was active in the Presbyterian church, where he began his fascination with entertainment and sound by helping with the sound booth through middle and high school. Brett also assisted with sound and light production in the local theater community during high school. He was always very proud of being a native of Jackson and Wyoming, and it was something he proudly shared throughout all of his travels and various communities he called home.
Brett was a passionate scuba diver with numerous advanced certifications and over 100 dives logged across the world. He enjoyed numerous other hobbies such as disc golf, puzzles, and dominating at board games. He frequently could be found in the kitchen baking and cooking, as long as it did not involve vegetables.
Growing up, Brett was always curious about how things worked, especially electrical things, and was encouraged to follow his interest in computers. This led to several casualties of small electronics and household appliances across his childhood, but ultimately led him to an Electrical Engineering degree that he started at the University of Utah and completed at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas in 2018.
Brett's upbringing instilled in him a love for exploring the world around him. He did not let entering the professional workforce diminish his zest for adventure. He joined Feld Entertainment where he spent time traveling the world, meeting great friends and picking up some amazing stories. After being on the road for a few years, Brett moved on to Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas where he was an automation technician on some of the largest shows in the world, he fell in love with automation which drove him to TAIT in Lititz, PA where he became a Senior Integrator. He recently had moved into a management role with TAIT where he was thriving in his mentorship role training the next generation of eager and passionate computer nerds.
While Brett lived a life rich in adventure, he was most renowned for his kindness and thoughtfulness. He excelled at his job, consistently meeting challenging production deadlines, but was always dedicated to ensuring his team was well cared for. Brett fostered an inclusive and supportive culture, making sure everyone felt a sense of belonging. Passionate about teaching, he was approachable and encouraged his colleagues to come to him with questions. Although humble, Brett's exceptional work earned him respect from both his team and clients. He was a sought-after problem solver and the go-to person for resolving major issues. Brett had a knack for making friends quickly and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. To know Brett was to love him, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving parents Julia (Eric Winthers), and Tim Smith. He will also be missed by his sisters Shannon Henshaw (Spencer Henshaw), and Vonde Smith (Bryan Ulmer and family). Brett was loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins. His loss will impact all whose lives he touched, well beyond his family.
A celebration of life will be held for Brett Smith on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 3:00pm. The celebration will be held at Mickey's Black Box on the Rock Lititz campus at 101 Rock Lititz Blvd, Lititz, PA 17543.
When we think of Brett, kindness is one of the first words that comes to mind. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you perform a random act of kindness in his memory. https://www.eventcreate.com/e/brettsmith
