Obituary

Brad A. Roda, 56, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Benjamin A. Roda and the late E. Carlene (Gilbert) Roda. He was the loving husband of Denise K. (Overly) Roda.

He was a 1977 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. During his high school career he was named to the Lancaster/Lebanon All Star Football Team. He went on to attend Bloomsburg University.

Brad enjoyed cycling, golf, and was a competitive athlete. In addition to sports, he loved to travel. He, his wife and daughter enjoyed a vacation in Italy in 2011. He also spent many summer vacations with family in Avalon, Stone Harbor, Ocean City, MD and the Outer Banks. He treasured time spent with his friends, high school buddies, and family, especially his daughter, nieces and nephews.

As a football and basketball sports enthusiast, you could always find him in the stands at many of his nephews' LCHS basketball games.

Brad is a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ephrata, and was a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club of Lancaster.

He had a 35 year banking career with Fulton Financial Corporation. He was a Senior Vice President, Division Sales Manager for the Merchant Card Services Group.

Brad was an energetic, enthusiastic, thoughtful and caring individual. He touched many lives throughout his life. He was goal oriented and never backed down from a challenge in his personal life or his work life. In the past 2 ½ years his illness became his greatest challenge, however he never let it affect his positive spirit.

He was a loving devoted husband and father.

In addition to his wife, Denise of 25 years, Brad is survived by his daughter Megan Roda (fiancé Brock Cromleigh), brother Craig Roda (Dianne), sister Pamela Roda Kline (Jim), twin brother Scott A. Roda (Patricia), sister Kim R. Wenger (Phil), niece Taylor Wenger and great nieces Claire and Grace Roda, nephews, Philip Wenger, Chad Wenger, Philip Kline (Misty), Jacob Kline, Aaron Roda, Andrew Roda, Mark Roda (Ann), Chris Roda (Jamie), Brandon Roda (Janelle), Spouse's parents Marian Gerhart (Melvin), Edwin Overly, Spouse's siblings Dennis Overly (Jeannie), Debra Rudolph, Spouse's nieces and nephews Shauna Overly, Danielle Overly, Michele Getz (Jeremy), Joshua Witman, Justin Witman, Kurt Royer (Stacey), and Brian Royer (Miriam).

A Celebration of Life Catholic Service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603 with The Rev. John McLoughlin as Celebrant and Rev. Allan F. Wolfe as Concelebrant. Visitations will be on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA from 6-8 PM and again at the church Monday morning from 10-11 AM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph New Catholic Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory may be made to Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute Fund, Lancaster General Heath Foundation, 609 N. Cherry Street, Lancaster, PA 17603, or Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Prostate Cancer Research.
