Boyd S. "Sam" Ricketts, Jr., 69, of Lancaster, PA, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Lancaster General Hospital, after a battle with heart failure. Born in Lancaster, Ohio, he was a son of the late Boyd S. Ricketts, Sr. and Mary Eaton Ricketts, and the beloved husband of Ann Brown Ricketts. Sam was a graduate of Ohio University and worked in sales. A member of the U.S. Army, he honorably served his country for four years in Florida and Germany. He was an avid Ohio State football fan. In addition to his wife, Ann, Sam is survived by his son Todd; his daughter-in-law, Janna; and his beloved cocker spaniel, Zoey. Also surviving is his brother, Steven Ricketts of Lancaster, Ohio; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention, but you know who you are and have all been true friends to the end. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Mason. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February, 17, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 East Delp Road, Lancaster, PA, 17601, where the family will receive guests beginning at 10:00 AM. Immediately following Mass a luncheon will be held at American Legion Post 34, 1388 Arcadia Road, Lancaster, PA, 17601, where military honors will take place. Sam's final resting place will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, which will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 34 at the above address.
