Obituary

Boyd "Bud" H. Custer, 81, of Lititz, PA, passed away on January 4, 2016 at Manor Care, Lancaster. Born in Hooversville, PA, he was the son of the late Boyd L. & Ida Mae (Shaffer) Custer. Bud was the husband of Rosalie A. (Heckman) Custer. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force. Bud graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor's Degree. He worked for the USDA and retired as a Soil Scientist. He was a life member of the Penn State Alumni, NRA and Lititz United Methodist Church. Bud liked guns, hunting and golfing. He also loved spending time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife, Rosalie, are three children: Deborah Smith of Lancaster, PA, Cynthia Dias, wife of Vincent, of New Mexico, and Brian Custer, husband of Paula, of Exeter, PA; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Betty Shaffer, wife of Ronald, and Linda Murray, wife of William, all of Hooversville, PA. Bud was preceded in death by two siblings: Mary Shirey and Earl Custer. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 9, 2015 at the Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 Market Street, Lititz, PA 17543. Friends will be received from 10:30-11 AM. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lititz First United Methodist Church; Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604; or Alzheimer's Association, Greater PA Chapter, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
