Betty Jane Hassel (Miller), age 95, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, September 9th at the Mennonite Home on Harrisburg Pike. Betty was born on April 27, 1923 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Maurice and Anna (Martin) Miller. She graduated from Manheim Township High School and worked as a secretary, before becoming a full-time homemaker. Betty was a member of Quest, Meals-on-Wheels, and the local bird club. In addition, she was a charter member of the Hempfield Women's Club. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed hiking to look for birds and wild flowers. Betty was married for 75 years to Lloyd Hassel who died in 2017. She is survived by three children, Robert and wife Janet (Baile) of Smyrna, DE, Barbara of Columbia, and Richard and wife Robin (Simpson) of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren; and 5 greatgrandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Mennonite Home on Harrisburg Pike (Lancaster) on October 6th at 9:30 AM. A private burial will be at Longeneckers Church on Strasburg Pike. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601.
