Betty Boyd Hammer, 88, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, after an extended heart illness at Homestead Village in Lancaster, PA.

Born in Manheim, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clement Thuma Boyd and the late Edith Mae Weller.  Betty was a graduate of Manheim High School in 1942. She had worked for Armstrong Cork Co. and the Philadelphia Electric Company.

She moved to Narberth, PA in 1956 where she lived with her husband, the late Frank Ellsworth Hammer III, until his death in 2010. They had celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Surviving is her sister, Esther Boyd Timm of Narberth, PA and her daughter, Leigh Ann Walfred, with son-in-law, Anthony F. Walfred, and two grandchildren, Anastasia Elizabeth Walfred and Anderson Hammer Walfred.

She will be remembered for her loves of the New Jersey seashore, flower gardening, and close friends and family.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 930-1030AM at the chapel at Homestead Village, 1800 Village Circle, Lancaster, PA, with a Memorial Service to follow at 1030AM. A reception will follow at the conclusion of the Memorial Service. A private family graveside service will be held in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
