Betty Johnson Flick, 96, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy. Born in Grampian, PA she was the daughter of the late Harry Edward Rafferty and Rose Anna (McKeown) Rafferty. Her first husband, Robert B. Johnson, passed away in 1986 and her second husband, Harry L. Flick, died in 2006. With her husband Bob, Betty was instrumental in operating the Buchanan Luncheonette, a former restaurant in Lancaster. Before World War II, she worked as an operator for Bell Telephone Co. After raising her four children, Betty worked for the former Rea & Derick and CVS drug stores before retiring in 1993. She also worked as a volunteer at the Matthew 25 thrift shops. A member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Betty enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling and entertaining her family. She was an accomplished storyteller and quick with a laugh, smile and wink as she regaled her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with tales of her life. Betty is survived by three sons, Tim Johnson of Rohrerstown; James R. Johnson, husband of Nancy of Lancaster; John K. Johnson, husband of Rose of Millersville, and a daughter, Terrie Finger of Lancaster. Betty is also survived by nine grandchildren, John Finger, Kristin McCormick, Michael Johnson, Jill Donovan, Elizabeth Moyer, Emily Noll, Jeffrey Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Andrew Johnson and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10AM on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be private in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's memory may be made to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or St. John Neumann Catholic Church at the above address.
