Berniece H. Dougherty, 90, of Willow Street, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday, June 6, 2019. Born in Conestoga, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Barbara Herr. She was the loving wife of Dale G. Dougherty with whom she celebrated 23 years of marriage. Berniece was a 1947 graduate of Manor Township High School. She worked for Armstrong World Industries in the telegraphic department until her retirement. A devout Christian, Berniece was a faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church where she used her God-given musical talent, playing the organ and piano. Berniece had a deep love for music. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband traveling across the United States, Europe and the Canadian Rockies. She also enjoyed visiting with her son, Mark, in Florida. In addition to her husband, Berniece is survived by 3 children: Mark Rietzel, husband of Drena, of Seminole, FL; David Dougherty, husband of Joyce, of Downingtown; and Patricia Dougherty, of Mcadoo, PA; 3 grandchildren: Brittany Cover, of Tampa, FL; Diana Loudan, of Downingtown; and Daniel Dougherty, of Downingtown; 1 great-grandchild: Rowan Loudan; her siblings: Ray Herr, of Lititz and Gladys Groff, of Lancaster; and many other beloved family members. Berniece was preceded in death by 2 sons and 7 siblings, and her first husband Edwin Rietzel. A Celebration of Berniece's life will be held at 4:15PM, Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Faith United Methodist Church , 1290 Fruitville Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received at the church from 3:15PM until the time of the service at 4:15PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Berniece's memory be made to Faith United Methodist Church at the address above.
