Benita Martini, 87, of Lancaster, formerly of New Canaan, CT and Switzerland, died Thursday night, October 22, 2009, at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy. Born in Lucerne, Switzerland, she was the daughter of the late Otto E. and Wendula V. von Tiele-Winkler Eichmann.

She was the wife of the late Enrico C. S. Martini, who died in 1981. Mrs. Martini was employed by The Yarn Tree in New Canaan before she moved to Homestead Village in Lancaster in 1994. Benita was a member of St. Leo the Great parish. She was an avid gardener and knitter.

Surviving are two children; Dr. Enrico E., husband of Lois A. Martini of Lancaster, and Julie T. Martini of Berganger, Germany, one sister Clarissa Cage of Switzerland, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 9 to 10 AM at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM with The Reverend Peter I. Hahn as Celebrant. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan, CT.
