Beatrice M. Smith, 96, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Luther Acres. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lillian Kieffer Smith. Bea had been a teacher for 28 years, beginning her career teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in Lancaster, then teaching in Middletown and then in the School District of Lancaster. She then became an instructor in the Millersville University Dept. of Elementary Education, until retiring in 1984. She was a graduate of Millersville State Teachers College with a BS in Education and attained a Masters of Education from Temple University. She had been a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Education Society. Bea was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her brother Harry M. Smith. She is survived by a niece, Susan B. Kyle, two nephews, Philip K. Smith and Barry E. Smith, two great nieces, a great nephew, a great grand niece and three great-grand nephews. Friends are invited to attend the Graveside Funeral Service on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11AM at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Rts 741 and 999, Lancaster, PA, with the Rev.
